As a Minnesota transplant, my first trips to the north shore filled me with a sense of wonder and mystery. The final look in this collection is the result of a late night spent on the shore of superior, staring into the complete blackness, hearing nothing but the lap of the waves on the pebble beach. My fascination with cryptids and my love of the north shore resulted in this eerie homage to the land of ten thousand lakes.
Like many, Deborah's grandmother first sparked her interest in sewing. Her mom helped encourage her DIY habits through Halloween costumes and thrift store alterations, up until they both made Deborah's wedding dress together. She spent parts of her life in different parts of the world, but none so beautiful as this state. Minnesota is her home now, and she hopes to honor it with this collection.
Thank you to my models: Brian Nemanic, Maggie Deming, Zach Deming, and Laura Kalsow; and to my parents for encouraging me from the start.
